Hell is looking for a way to break loose…

Jax lost the genetic lottery. Descended from Cain, the world's first murderer, he's plagued by a curse that demands violence in exchange for his happiness. He left everything behind, including the girl he loved, but thriving on the pain of others is lonely… And it's killing him.

After a series of heartbreaking losses, Samantha put rubber to pavement and headed for college as fast as her clunker could carry her. But she can't outrun her problems. When an attack at school drives her back home, she's thrown into the path of a past—and a guy—she's been trying to forget.

Sam strains Jax's control over his darkness, but running isn't an option this time. Someone—or, something—followed her home from school: a ruthless monster with a twisted plan centuries in the making. Forced together to survive, and fighting an attraction that could destroy them both, Jax and Sam must stop a killer bent on revenge.

So, I picked this one up as I was having some book ADD/Feeling overload after watching Divergent on Thursday night. At first I thought this was a smart idea. Male POV, minimal girl drama. Well, by the end of the story, I was almost in tears. So there goes that idea.

I loved this book. The whole concept of a demon living inside a body is what initially got me wanting to read this. The fact that Jax and Chase were hot, was just an added bonus.

The concept behind the demon origin was very original and basically strips it down to the origins from the bible. For some, I could imagine that being a turn off of sorts, depending on ones belief. But it really shouldn't be an issue.

This whole book revolves around 2 things; trying to figure out whose attempting to kill Sam, and Jax trying to convince Sam he can't be with her. I want to go into more detail about the Sam and Jax part. Basically they need each other, but they can't have each other. So they end up making out and its just hotness all around.

I love reading books from males POV, I think almost more than females, depending on the book and author.

The plot is done so well. We have intense angry Jax scenes, followed by more intense scenes with Sam. Throughout the story, I had no idea who the killer was. Then when I figured it out, I wasn't like DUH. In fact I was more upset than anything.

In the end, it's really about being the winner in a battle of the lesser evil. Chase, Jax and Sam go through a wonderful transformation through the story, that at the end, I was in tears. All you need is love.
