Branded Blog Tour - Review & Giveaway

Title: Branded
Series: (Sinners #1)
Authors: Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki
Release Date: June 28, 2013
Pages: 252

Fifty years ago the Commander came into power and murdered all who opposed him. In his warped mind, the seven deadly sins were the downfall of society. He created the Hole where sinners are branded according to their sins and might survive a few years. At best.

Now LUST wraps around my neck like blue fingers strangling me. I’ve been accused of a crime I didn’t commit and now the Hole is my new home.

Darkness. Death. Violence. Pain.

Now every day is a fight for survival. But I won’t die. I won’t let them win.

The Hole can’t keep me. The Hole can’t break me.
I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter.
My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.

Man, why did this take me so long to read this! In the midst of all the dystopia books, there are a few hidden gems and this is one of them.

The idea that this came from two authors is amazing. Sometimes when collaboration is involved, you can pinpoint things that tell you when you’re reading a different authors writing. But this one you’d think was all written by the same author and I applaud Abi and Missy for that.

The idea of being branded with a sin is a scary idea.  Matter of fact, any dystopian world is a scary idea. Let alone what happens in them.  The world that Abi and Missy created is so life like and terrifying.

Lexi, I really admire you for the strength you have after all that has happened to you.  You’re a fighter to say the least. You’re a wonderful heroine. Then we have Cole. Cole, you really are a beauty. But you just had to break the one rule that would keep you both alive and under the radar.

With the normal dystopia elements aside, Abi and Missy do a phenomenal job of creating an original spin to it. With there being a Commander and the idea of the ‘sins’ being mans downfall.  The pace of this book is very steady, I didn’t feel there were any slow parts.

If you, like me have been putting this one to the back of your TBR shelves, I highly suggest you bump it up. I loved it and cannot wait for the second book in this series.

About the Authors
Abi and Missy met in the summer of 1999 at college orientation and have been best friends ever since. After college, they added jobs, husbands and kids to their lives, but they still found time for their friendship. Instead of hanging out on weekends, they went
to dinner once a month and reviewed books. What started out as an enjoyable hobby has now become an incredible adventure.
