After-life just got a lot more complicated

Maggie is a Soul Collector. It’s her job to transport souls from the Living Realm to the After – but during a mission to find a stolen soul, she ends up stuck in a teen mean girl’s body.

Trapped, Maggie’s soul is catapulted into Ally’s life – and the human world she hasn’t experienced for one hundred years. But, as a descendant of the most powerful beings in the After, Maggie must rescue Ally before the girl’s soul dies…

To survive, Maggie must uncover devastating secrets – because with one soul taken by a terrifying enemy, Maggie’s could be next!

I think Dante Walker met his match. In female form.

Maggie wants to get to the top, no matter what it takes. She has a bite to her, which doesn't exactly make her suitable for the next level. So when she gets the opportunity to work on these skills, it doesn't go as planned.

Why are people who collect souls have like a major ego? I mean I get it, you've been dead and control who dies when and shit. But really?! Tone it down. Gives the living a blow to our egos.

Also, why when someone takes over a body of sort, it's always the bitchy girl body? I mean not saying it happens all the time, but more often than not.

This is an action packed book. With only having a short amount of time to get Ally's soul back, it's also a quickish read. There wasn't one page that dragged. Cliff hanger chapter endings (well, some). It kept me intrigued from beginning to end.

This is a book where there are LOTS of characters. From Maggie's boss, her "coworkers", and the humans she interacts with when she's in Ally's body. Now, for some this can be overwhelming. But never fear, they're easy to keep track of.

Oh Marie, you're so underrated. There needs to be more awesome motherly like housemaids in YA books. Now on the flip side, these kinds of characters usually mean the parents are either not in the picture, or absent in their kids lives. Pros and Cons to both.

Now in the majority of these books, the main character has some power to them, that makes them the chosen one or whatever you like to call it. In Soul Taken, Maggie is told that collectors memories are wiped for various reasons. I was thinking about this as I read the book and it made perfect sense. It causes you to not be attached to your past and such. Well you'll have to read about why she's special in this case.

Overall, great start to a trilogy. Will definitely be checking out Soul Possessed in the near future.  Lastly, Dante, better watch your back ;)
