When she least expects it, sixteen-year old Holly Burton’s unremarkable life is shaken to the core. A vision of the mother Holly never knew leaves her questioning everything she believes.
Eager for answers, Holly enrolls at a boarding school for highly gifted students in Wolfebane, New Hampshire. But things will get worse before they get better, as Holly accidentally transports to a parallel existence where she's confronted by a dark and ancient evil.
With the help of Joss, a sexy alpha warrior sworn to protect her, and her new BFF, the equally swoon-worthy Quinn, Holly faces her fears and an unlikely adversary in a showdown that is worse than anything she could’ve possibly imagined …
I LOVED this book! It was a unique fantasy story. If you don't believe that it's a badass mofo, then check this quote out.
"Charmed and drawn in by Holly’s spunk and snark, Scion of the Sun will leave you spinning and falling for Joss right along with Holly. Marsh’s unique story is packed with action, mystery, romance and suspense. This is not to be missed!” – Jennifer L. Armentrout, USA TODAY Bestselling Author
Normally the main character finds out they're the chosen one by accident or their parents just avoid telling them for risk of a non normal life. Well here, it's a combination of that but it wasn't that Holly's mom didn't want her to know, it was the fact that her mom "vanished" when she was little. This I liked! It strayed from the normal plot of a "chosen one" story.
Holly is a character that I think that readers will be able to relate to in one way or another. Whether its her personality or the way she is around Quinn and Joss. I definitely felt a part of her.
Now usually I'm not one for "info dumping" but again Nicola wrote it in a way that you felt like you were learning right beside Holly.
Poor girl, two guys. One a warrior who can read your mind, the other being a human trying to become gifted. Both guys tugged at me and I didn't find the instant connection odd or forced. I mean its not everyday a guy can read your mind...literally.
This is one of those books where I don't want to say a lot because I feel like everyone's adventure with Holly and gang is unique to the reader.
